What's a CSA?

A CSA is a Community Supported Agriculture program. You buy a share in the Chinook Farms’ growing season. While CSAs typically involve an “up front” purchase for the season, Chinook Farms CSA is going on a week-to-week basis for this first season. Chinook Farms will offer a %10 discount when the season is paid up front. Click here to apply for Membership.

Beginning the first Friday in June until the end of October, each CSA member can pick up a box of produce of that week’s offerings. We encourage you to pick up your box at Chinook Farms so you get a taste of how fresh your produce really is.

However, if coming to the Farms is inconvenient, we have four other pick up locations:
  • Kusler’s Pharmacy - Snohomish
  • Chinook Lumber – Monroe
  • Chinook Lumber – Clearview
  • Evergreen Academy - Bothell-Woodinville

What are the benefits of participating in a CSA?

  • Your produce will be fresh with more flavor and vitamins

  • You will be contributing to a method of farming that keeps the soil’s nutrients intact for future generations

What does it cost?

During our first year we are offering a standard box for a family of four for $36. Smaller families—seniors or singles—can order the smaller size for $25. If your family is larger we can make arrangements for a bigger standing order.

You can come to the farm and purchase extra vegetables yourself for canning and freezing. We’ve got a flower garden growing, too. You can pick flowers and herbs at no extra charge because you are participating in the weekly box program. For those interested in larger quantities for canning, freezing or pickling, we will post what crops are ready for ‘u-pickers’. These items will be reasonably priced and our CSA customers will enjoy a 10% discount to the posted prices.

How do I get my box?

While picking up at one of our drop off sites is fine, we’d really like you to come to the farm. If you collect your weekly box at the farm you’ll be able to choose more of what you want. You can meet the farm team and see how and where your food is grown and pick some herbs and flowers as well.

We are in the process of being certified organic by the Washington State Department of Agriculture. We use only fertilizers and other materials included on the WSDA list approved for organic farms. Our farming methods comply with all WSDA organic farming guidelines.

What’s in a box?

We are offering a wide variety of produce. For example, here is a list of the beans we’re growing for 2010: Provider Beans, Royalty Purple Beans, Gold Rush Beans, Windsor Fava Beans, and Scarlet Runner Beans. Imagine 16 different types of potatoes!

In addition you’ll see beets, cabbage, herbs, lettuces, carrots, pumpkins, squash and a whole passel of different types of greens, just to name a few. Have a look at some of our latest crops.

We also have two greenhouses to help extend the growing season.

When is delivery or when can I pick up my box?

Friday, June 4 is the first delivery or the first pick-up at the farm. Fridays will continue to be the day to either come to the farm to get your box or pick up your box at one of our other sites.

What if I don’t like beans or another item and don’t want it in my box?

Come to the farm and pick out what you do like. Some items may be limited to one basket or one bunch of something. We will also try to provide cooking ideas for some of the items people may not be familiar with.
